Géomorphologie à Tetiaroa : Prémices d’un observatoire de données scientifiques et environnementales

Abstract : The atoll of Tetiaroa has been acquired in 1966 by the actor Marlon Brando. He wished Tetiaroa to become an ecological model and a conservation, education and research site. The Tetiaroa Society hosts teams of local and international researchers, it expressed a strong need in terms of collecting, stocking, sharing and representing the scientific data produced on the atoll. The geomorphologic processing of the historical raster database from 1955 up to 2014 constitute the firstfruits of a multi-thematic geographical database which will make of Tetiaroa an atoll under environmental and scientific surveillance. This article describes the land cover and coast line mapping of the Tetiaroa’s motu, a diachronic analysis checks their geodynamic behavior, and an erosion and scarps monitoring is proposed.
